April 2012 Newsletter

March gave us many opportunities. We especially enjoyed learning about Dr. Seuss and reading many of his hilarious books. And we enjoyed our visit from “Mother Goose” and her songs and stories. Our Trike-A-Thon mission project for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was incredible! Our donation total will be posted when all of our envelopes have been returned to preschool. Lots of fun activities are planned for preschool during the month of April and we are glad that Spring is officially here – we have been enjoying that beautiful warm weather.

JESUS TIME
During the month of April we will to continue to learn about the love of Jesus. We will learn of His ultimate love in the Easter story. We will learn that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again so that we might live forever with Him in Heaven. His message was to make certain that everyone knew that He loves all people everywhere. His message continues now, through us. He wants us to tell others of His great love for them.

March 2012 Newsletter

The month of February has been fun! We have enjoyed making, sending and receiving Valentines. And we have enjoyed all of the opportunities to learn about and experience the color purple.

JESUS TIME
During the month of March we will learn about friends and forgiveness. We will remember that Jesus forgives all our sins and loves us unconditionally. We will learn that God wants us to know His great love for us in Jesus; and that He wants US to praise Him by listening to His Word.

THEME/CONCEPTS
During the month of March we will read Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. As we read, we will learn more and more about rhyming words. We will learn that these stories can entertain us and help us to develop our own imaginations and creativity.

We will continue to work on printing our names, remembering that our names begin with an uppercase letter and the letters that follow should be lowercase letters. We will read some silly Dr. Seuss books and learn about the new season of Spring. The COLOR of the month is BLUE, our SHAPE is the DIAMOND, and our NUMBERS are #6-10. The 3 year old class will emphasize Number 8 and the letter “F.” The 4 and 5 year old classes will learn the letters “A,” “V,” “M” and “N.”

Library Books – On March 6th and 7th the children will go to the Children’s Library in our church and be allowed to check out books, cassettes, and videos. We ask that you help your child enjoy them and continue to teach your child how to care for them, and return them (on or before) the next library day.

Parenting Library – Several books have been purchased over the years for the St. John’s – Eagle’s Nest Preschool Parenting Library. These books are available to sign out. Stop by this small library located just outside the doors of the 4 year old classroom and see if you would like to borrow a book!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Family Brunch/Preschool Classes Sing in Church
Your family is invited to our Eagle’s Nest Preschool Brunch on Sunday, March 18th at 9:30. We will serve until 10:15, then your child can meet the teachers in the 4 year old classroom and you can find a seat in the church to hear your child(ren) sing. Additional details will be sent home with your child – please plan to join us!!

Lutheran Schools Week – March 6th through March 9th
As we celebrate Lutheran Schools Week, we remember the Gospel message that is given to us through Jesus Christ, our Savior. We are placing some Daily Devotionals on the tables in the waiting area, outside the 3 year old classroom. Please slip into a chair and look them over this week. All classes may wait in that larger, more comfortable area at any time. We are planning a pajama party for Tuesday and Wednesday, so you can just bring your child in his/her pajamas! Please send a pillow with your child, too.

Tuesday, March 6th – Pajama Party
Wednesday, March 7th – Pajama Party

On Thursday and Friday, we are planning opposite days. Your child may wear their shirt backward, two mismatched socks or shoes, one side of their hair different than the other side, etc.

Thursday, March 8th – Opposites
Friday, March 9th – Opposites

On Pajama Party Days and Opposite Days teachers will dress up, too. (some children are very reluctant to dress differently than usual until they see that their teachers and classmates are dressed silly too – so do not insist that they participate, we want these activities to be fun and not stressful – for children or their parents)!!!

Many of you have already registered for the 2012-2013 preschool classes!! And, thanks to many of you, our 4 year old classes are filling quite quickly. Thanks, too for sharing registration information with your friends!
